Pricing

Quilting on a longarm machine is different from quilting on a traditional sewing machine. For example, stitch-in-the-ditch (SID), which is pretty easy on your home machine, is very difficult--and therefore time-consuming--on a longarm. Pricing is based on the size of the quilt and the difficulty of the quilting design.

City Quilting offers three categories of pricing, charging by the square inch (measured before quilting):

  • Basic:  Simple, all-over (also called edge-to-edge) quilting either using a pantograph pattern or freehand, quilting is fairly open - $.017
  • Basic Plus:  Edge-to-edge quilting that is more complex and dense, freehand or with a pantograph, or which has a different pattern in the border - $.02 to $.03
  • Custom:  Stitch in the-ditch, cross-hatch, circles, spirals, block patterns, more complex borders, feathers, etc. - $.035 +

There is a minimum charge of $40.

Any quilting preparation I do, such as seaming the backing, pressing, seam repair, etc., will be charged at $20/hour.
There is a basic $3 thread charge. Specialty threads, use of more than one thread color, or dense quilting requiring a lot of thread, will incur an additional charge.
A 25% deposit is due when the quilt top is received. Payment may be made by check or cash.
